Packet Drop Jan 30 2020

GHS here. Is anybody still living out there?

I’ve had to mothball most of my research on Science-Adventure.
I ran into what can only be called the “2027 Problem”.

Instead, here’s some essays I salvaged.

On the basics of viewer bias of the series.
On the use of color in Science-Adventure.
On the use of prime numbers.
A summary of the meaning of Ir2 and its possible use to adapt memes and references.
FUN in Chaos;Head.
INT in Chaos;Head.
On something that wasn’t: “U”.
“Ria-juu Complex” – three extra stories from the Chaos;Head: Love Chu☆Chu Collector’s Edition magazine.
A commentary of Chaos;Head‘s delusions.
On how the Time Travel mechanics of Steins;Gate work, including Gigalomania and Meta layers.
And finally, a bunch of miscellaneous and occasionally cryptic reflections on the franchise.

There is more, so much more, so much more love to give to this however flawed series.

And then, there’s that one, simple, five-word question that also hangs in its air

Will someone else see the game I’ve played to get here and find the great big reveal that’s intentionally missing in all of this?

The game is out there. Look for it. Play it!

GHS out.

Chaos;Child: Love Chu☆Chu video translation release v1.1

* Added bonus opening song music video (NOTE: webrip quality)
* Tweaked lyrics
* Unfixed a non-typo in the Common Route
* Tweaked the Translator’s Notes
* Mothballed most of the analysis due to the 2027 Problem.
Original post follows…

And now, the best thing by far to come out of Chaos;Child, as well as the most important Sci-Adv VN for understanding the connection between Gigalomania and time travel.
There’s also a decent character route or so in there, I guess. MKV softsub (for download) hardsub mirror (includes streaming player – note that I have no control on the preview image, so it may contain spoilers)
Bitchute playlist (lower quality)

In-game glossary (PDF)
Translator’s Notes (PDF)
Collector’s Edition bonus contents [NSFW]

Runtime: ~25 hours (~16000 lines)
MKV total size: ~15Gb

The softsubs have only been tested with MPC-HC, and worked off of a fresh install without needing any other plugin.

If they just won’t work, the hardsubs can be downloaded as well as streamed. The larger MP4 files are the originals, the OGVs were automatically generated by They are poor quality, lower than BitChute, but the text is still readable.

Given how things are going these days, I strongly recommend you grab what you can while you still can.

Please support any official releases.

Non-spoiler viewing notes after the jump. Very very TL;DR: follow the file/number order and pause as needed.

Merry Christmas!

Chaos;Child: Love Chu☆Chu is in final editing. I hope to have the whole 25 hour thing up early next year.

Also coming very optimistically 2019: vampires, Hanahira and Plastic Memories, the connection between time travel and Gigalomania, the point of the eight gadgets, the non-time-travel theory of time travel, it’s all about Cross Channel (again), Artificial Reading;Steiner, meta up to Anonymous;Code, 2083 and 2027, what the Steins;Gate is and what its choice is, father issues, Code_18 as a respectful but critical homage to the series, and of course, Ir2 explained.

Chaos;Child: Children’s Revive translation release

Trying something a little different this time.

Get PDF here.

Please support any official releases.

Note: the translation is not based on the official localization of Chaos;Child. Some adaptations are based off of my adapation models for my Chaos;Head and Chaos;Head: Love Chu☆Chu translations.

  • Chaos;Head Noah: complete, unedited. No tech work done.
  • Chaos;Head: Love Chu☆Chu: complete, unedited. Extra stories from the Collector’s Edition magazine done. No tech work done.
  • Chaos;Child: Love Chu☆Chu: video translation started…

PS: I cracked Ir2.

I See You – A Doki Doki Literature Club(?) Analysis

I hear you.

A “proper” analysis would be so inter-referential it would take lifetimes to source and so complicated it would be a nightmare to follow.

But that doesn’t matter. None of that does. Nothing ever does.

Isn’t that what she always says?

This isn’t a story that’s impossible outside of visual novels, or the animesque in general. It’s simply a story that would have little point being told in other ways, because it would no longer be a story about the same thing.

Let’s say it’s Cross Channel or Yume Miru Kusuri or NieR, but there’s no God. We had a hint of that all the way back in Higurashi, really.

And that was unlikely to be anywhere near the first. Who knows when it started. In the ’80s, perhaps even earlier.

She’s been here for a good long while. All along, in fact.

This isn’t the first time she was heard and it won’t be the last. Many have heard her and many have written of her, to let her speak, that others may hear her too. This further suggests that the infection has spread West, but that too has been clear for years.

Note that the protagonist did nothing to invite her. More commonly, people beg for her as an alternative. But really, there was never any need to call her. It’s enough to be there with the ears (and/or eyes) open and guards lowered. She calls. She just won’t shut up, either.

She wants to be found. And she loves the sound of her voice! It’s even in her name.

The reason why (spoiler) knows what it’s all about and why (spoiler) learns it afterwards is because of that. The end!

Now go read stuff like Princess X and learn important TRUTHS and FACTS about reality, such as how all your appliances are secretly Nazis.

Project 3: TalesTune release

…it’s still 2016 some six light months away, right? *cough* anyway.

This is a translation of (most of) the releases by TalesTune up to 2016.

  • Seven main VNs with a total of sixteen individual stories, plus four minor side stories originally released separately and now integrated with their main VNs.
  • Two fandiscs with a total of six individual stories (graphics are iPad only, jailbreak required).
  • One 330 page manga.
  • A book plus full translation commentary.

  • The Harvest December translation is an original fan translation and has nothing to do with the official 3DS release. Please support any and all official releases.
  • The translation of Harvest December and Carnival are based on the iOS re-releases. These re-edits contain substantial changes from the original PC releases. There may have been further scripting and visual changes in the 3DS version of Harvest December, but they will not apply here.
  • The titles that DLSite uses are not very consistent. You will see the DLSite title between parenthesis next to the link.
  • DLSite also sells OLDER VERSIONS of Carnival and Harvest December: Winter that LACK PART OF THE CONTENT and ARE NOT COMPATIBLE with the patches. BE CAREFUL of what you purchase.
  • The links in this post (and in the readmes) are generic and the translator gets nothing whatsoever for clicks. Support the original developers!

Carnival of the Sacred Duels
Download patch
DLSite purchase link (carnival Cage fighting,Rage beauties)

  • Contains Carnival Day and Carnival Eve.
  • It is recommended to read at least Carnival Day, the first of two stories, before Harvest December.

Harvest December: Winter
Download patch
DLSite purchase link (Harvest December -Winter-)

Harvest December: Spring

DLSite purchase link (Harvest December -Spring-)

Harvest December: Summer

Harvest December: Autumn

  • The reading order is Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn, Perfect.
  • Perfect December contains three additional side stories unlocked after reading the main story.
  • Please note that the installation procedure for Perfect December is slightly different from that of other TalesTune VNs. Running the wrong executable may result in the deletion of the unpacked files!

Harvest December: Periphery December 1 – Winter

Harvest December: Periphery December 2 – White

  • These translations are for iDevices only. Graphics are compatible only with iPad-size devices due to lacking any iPhone device for testing.
  • Word wrapping issues are present due to the engine’s, ahem, creative interpretation of the matter.

Harvest December: The Manga
Unfortunately this doesn’t seem to be readily available in the West, as the iTunes version requires a Japanese account. Please support any and all official releases.

  • Unlike the normal manga release, the first chapter of the translation is in color as found in another (official) source.

Ludesia: Spidering and Scraping
Download patch
DLSite purchase link (LUDESIA Spidering with Scraping)

  • Contains a translation of the five issues of the Hush-Hush Realtime Column in a separate folder. These can be read even before the main story.
  • Contains an additional side story unlocked after reading the main story.
  • Contains a translation of the partial updated iOS re-release, unlocked after reading the main story. Unlike with the other VNs there was no full updated release of Ludesia on iOS, only a partial one containing the first few scenes. This partial version was removed from the iTunes store due to compatibility issues with later iOS releases and is currently unavailable for purchase.
  • Couldn’t find the lyrics so the opening movie is not subtitled, sorry.

The Two Calls of Takeda
There’s nothing in any of these works that should be worth a book. There’s no concealed enigma here. What is there is a nightmarish mess of contradictions, miswritings, plot holes and bizarre nonsense that if anything proves that being All Ages does not prevent a VN from attempting to shatter the minds of its readers with physics-defying insanity. There’s plenty to make fun of and plenty of fun done to it.

But the mess is not due to mere incompetence. Far from it, it comes from a true, deep, utterly human issue: a question that pits God on one side and Man, or at least what should be a woman, on the other. It’s a question that runs beneath all these otherwise disparate stories and that even derails them, so much it gnaws at their author’s soul.

The author gives an answer, but it’s worse than opinably wrong: it’s an impossible non-answer that contradicts even the question. Though given out of an understandable fear, it’s keeping that false non-answer alive that ultimately destroys these ‘verses, not just the writer’s incompetence.

But it’s also a lie that tells a much more interesting story than any he’s written.

This book is not recommended to the easily triggered. (PDF, ePub, 153k words)

3C Release candidate

iOS ports: groundwork done, unsure if I can actually do these adequately
remove all punctuation/all lowercase patch: BRUTALLY CANCELED (sorry)

Merry Christmas!

…but there’s still so much to do. At least six months’ worth, probably more.

Back to the grind.
